PMI Overview |
 |
PMI stands for Privilege Management Infrastructure, BCBSF's central
repository for web login. All PMI-enabled applications display the PMI
"Key" logo and share the same User ID and Password. |
First time logging in through PMI?
All internal users, whether they are employees, temps or contractors,
have a PMI account. Your account is created at the same time a Windows,
Unix and Mainframe accounts are created, at the time of your hire or
rehire, and uses the same initial password.
Contact your hiring manager for that initial password.
If you think you may have already logged in, try clicking on Forgot
your password? link at the bottom of the login box, and enter your
user id. If you have are prompted to answer some questions, then you have
already used PMI at least once, and the initial password is no longer
valid. Fill in the answers, and you will get a temporary password to get
you logged in.
If there are no questions and answers stored in PMI, you may have never
logged in before. Please contact Helpdesk at x58737 to get your new PMI
password.
Setting up your Password
You will be prompted to change your password:
- when you are assigned a temporary password, either through Forgot
your Password? link, or by Helpdesk, or
- if your password is about to expire.
Please follow the criteria on the "Change Password" page to create your
new password. Your password should be easy to remember, but difficult for
others to guess.
PMI passwords expire every thirty days.
Setting up your Forgotten Password Questions and Answers
These questions will be used later to give you a temporary password.
You will be prompted to select and answer any three out of five questions:
- when you first log into the system, or
- when you are assigned a temporary password by Helpdesk.
You can click on View more questions to get a new set of five
questions, if one set does not provide with three questions that you can
easily answer and remember. Your answers should be difficult for others to
guess.
Please keep your answers simple, so that your can answer them exactly
the same way as you set them up. If you set up an answer as "St.
Augustine", and later use FPS with "St Augustine" or "Saint Augustine",
PMI will not be able to validate your answer, and will not be able to give
you a temporary password.
Forgot your Password?
PMI provides you with a Forgotten Password Service, or FPS, which you
can use to reset your own password.
Click on Forgot your password? link at the bottom of the login
box.
You will be asked to answer three questions that you answered before.
Answering them correctly will produce a temporary password. This password
is good only for a few minutes. Please use it right away, on the login
screen you get after hitting the Continue button. Failure to do so
will lock you out of this capability till you call Helpdesk to reset your
password again.
There are a certain number of attempts permitted to answer the
questions correctly. If the number is exceeded, your account will be
locked out. You must contact Helpdesk to unlock your account and give you
a new temporary PMI password.
If you have never logged in before, or if Helpdesk reset your password,
your Questions and Answers will not be in PMI. Until you create them with
a subsequent login, you will not be able to use this service. Please
contact Helpdesk at x58737 to get your new temporary PMI password.
Unlock your Account
If you lock your account after a certain number of attempts with a bad
password, you can use Forgot your password? link to both get a
temporary password, and unlock your account. If your account is
locked for some other reason, such as password expiration, please contact
Helpdesk at x58737 to unlock it.
